Winter Weather Update (January 22)

Jan 22, 2025 | Archived Emails

Jack Frost made a special visit to The Landings and surrounding areas throughout Chatham County overnight, leaving behind a beautiful landscape of snow and ice. Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) officials warn that although picturesque, the wintery backdrop that adorns most places in Savannah this morning comes with a level of risk and danger. CEMA urges everyone to stay off the roads unless travel is necessary.

Below are some operations updates from TLA, The Landings Golf & Athletic Club, and Utilities, Inc. of Georgia.

The Landings Association (TLA)

  • TLA is closed to walk-in traffic today (January 22). Due to the forecast of black ice and possible refreezing of snow and ice overnight, TLA’s office (600 Landings Way) will remain closed to walk-in traffic tomorrow (Thursday, January 23). This includes the Public Works and Marinas offices. Landings Security will remain open 24/7. Weather permitting, TLA will reopen to walk-in customers on Friday (January 24) at 8 a.m.
  • Residents and vendors still can conduct business online and by phone. You can reach staff members directly or email webmaster@landings.org
  • Landings Public Works has been working before and during the winter storm preparing and evaluating facilities and TLA assets (e.g., equipment, vehicles, etc.). Additionally, the team has turned off the water to the restrooms at Landings Community Park, Landings Harbor Marina, and Delegal Creek Marina to prevent frozen pipes.
  • One primary focus for your Association is ensuring Security operations are functional. To help with this goal, Public Works crews  salted roads to the Main Gate, North Gate, and Westcross Bridge.

From The Landings Golf & Athletic Club (LGAC)

  • Help us protect our Golf Courses! As much as the snow may be inviting, we kindly ask that you refrain from walking, building snowmen, sledding, skiing, or snowboarding on the golf courses. These activities can cause damage to the turf. Additionally, we ask that no golf carts be used on the golf cart paths while the golf courses are closed.
  • LGAC Offices are closed today (January 22). LGAC’s team is following the weather closely and will decide later this evening regarding tomorrow’s schedule.

From Utilities, Inc. of Georgia (UIG)

  • Utilities, Inc. is closed to walk-in traffic today (January 22) and will conduct business remotely. At the time of this email, UIG’s schedule for tomorrow (January 23) had not yet been decided.

Please stay safe and warm, and follow Chatham Emergency Management Agency for CEMA Alerts.
