Irrigation Replacement at the Main Gate
Brightview has started the process of replacing the irrigation system at the Main Gate this week. The crews have flagged the zones and identified the sleeves located under the roadway. While preparing for trenching, the crews realized that some of the underground utility locates had not been flagged by the assigned dig date, so they stopped work and contacted Georgia 811 to notify the utility companies in advance of the trenching process. Work in this area should proceed early next week once the utilities are properly marked.
Triploid Grass Carp Stocking in Lagoons
With the help of Dragonfly Pond Solutions, eight lagoons were stocked with 270 grass carp to provide a biological control alternative to herbicide applications in the lagoons. These fish are herbivores and will help with the control of submerged vegetation such as bladderwort, spike rush, and common pondweeds. Grass carp were stocked in lagoons 15A, 16, 25, 26, 29, 31, 40, and 86 at a rate of 15 fish/surface acre.
