Abigails Advocacy Committee Meeting
On Thursday, Sean Burgess was one of the panelists on the Coastal Groundwater Resources panel organized by the Skidaway Abigails. Each panelist was asked to prepare a two-to-three-minute opening statement that answered the question: “Why should Skidaway Island residents care about coastal groundwater resources?” Thereafter, the moderator asked additional questions of each panelist on topics such as groundwater, use, and current permit limits. Dr. James Reichard, PhD, Hydrogeologist at GSU and Damon Mullis, Executive Director/Riverkeeper, Ogeechee River Keeper were the other two panelists in attendance.
Common Property Tree Removal
This week, RD Tree Service removed 15 diseased and/or damaged trees from storm-related events (a most recent lighting incident) on common property. These trees were either too large and/or dangerous for our in-house staff to remove.
Main Gate Motor Replacement
Due to the continuous amount of gate arm hits the resident lane at the Main Gate has sustained throughout the last several weeks, the internal motor was damaged beyond repair and required replacement. Staff replaced the motor on Monday, and the residential gate arm is fully functional.
Delegal Marina Sunset Room
Several residents expressed concerns regarding the wasteful energy consumption from ceiling fans on the Sunset Pavilion’s porch being left on overnight. To address these concerns, staff replaced the light switches that control the fans to manual, wall mounted timers that automatically turn off at various intervals. These timers have a maximum setting of 60 minutes.
