On the Security Scene

Please note that a brief synopsis is provided for pertinent incidents that Security responds to during the previous week. All incidents are not covered in the weekly recap. Statistics for incident reports are provided below.

Theft

On Monday, September 8, an employee of Carefree Boat Club stopped at the Main Gate to report a theft and submit a request to view video footage. The man explained that sometime between 5 p.m. on Friday, September 5, and noon on Saturday, September 6, his boat trailer was removed without permission from Landings Harbor Marina’s parking lot. The trailer did not have a lock on it at the time. Upon reviewing the video, a truck can be seen entering the parking lot, hooking up to the trailer, and then leaving. TLA Marina and Security staff are working with the victim and CCPD in the investigation of this theft.

Vehicle Accident

On Thursday, September 4, Landings Security responded to Mainsail Crossing for a report of a vehicle accident. The first vehicle attempted to go around the second vehicle and struck the back side of the second vehicle, which resulted in damage to both vehicles. Both parties decided that they did not want to involve CCPD and would handle the matter among themselves.

Suspicious Person

On Thursday, September 4, a suspicious person on McWhorter Drive between West Ridge Road and the Marshwood Gate was reported to Landings Security by our USDA Representative. He advised that he noticed the individual coming from the woods, and he was not sure if the man was out hunting deer. A Security Officer arrived on scene and spoke with the man who stated that his truck had overheated near Kroger. After getting the vehicle working again, he accidentally put in the wrong address in his GPS and ended up on McWhorter Drive, where his vehicle overheated again. He further stated that he had called a friend to come assist him with the vehicle. The Officer informed the man that he was trespassing on private property and would need to leave the area. While waiting for the man’s friend to arrive, he advised the Officer that his radiator should be cool enough to drive to the nearest gas station, so the Officer provided him with directions to the 24-hour Enmarket and escorted him off the island.
