On the Waterfront

  • The Ship’s Store operations are moving to a bar code scanner for merchandise sales.
  • This move is designed to streamline inventory, purchasing, and tracking sales in the store more efficiently.
  • The Marina Staff discovered a water leak under the sidewalk in front of the Ship Store this week. After locating the area of the leak, the Public Works Department assisted with removing the sidewalk panels to expose the leaking line.

On the Security Scene

  • Our community has decided to take a proactive approach to reduce crime and protect our neighborhood with Flock Safety LPR (Automated License Plate Reader) cameras, a national public safety operating system that specializes in community safety through the use of license plate reading cameras.
  • We have received a new Guardian Pro camera, which will be deployed later this week or early next week.
  • On Sunday, September 14, Security responded to a report of a broken down golf cart.

  • The Community Path at the Oakridge Gate will be closed for maintenance from Monday, September 22 through Friday, September 26.
  • Road cutbacks continued this week along Landings Way South and Peregrine Crossing.
  • Absolute Concrete completed community path panel repairs on Landings Way North and along Bartram Road this week.
  • Absolute Concrete completed curb repairs on Vandy Court this week.

CDD Weekly Update

  • Routine inspections were conducted in Oakridge this week. Follow-up and requested inspections were conducted throughout the island.
  • This week no properties were contacted regarding new violations of the Private Property Maintenance Standards, and no properties were contacted to provide courtesy education regarding property maintenance standards.

Register Now for Turtle Events!

  • Skidaway Audubon volunteers have rescued thousands of Diamondback terrapins eggs from sand traps in The Landings this summer, and the little hatchlings are ready to be released into the wild.
  • Landings residents are invited to come help send these adorable newborns on their way. Community hatchling releases are scheduled from 5 to 6 p.m. Sept. 30 at Sunset Park. An additional release is set for Oct. 12 from 1 to 2 p.m.

P.E.O. Chapter BB 12th Annual Plant Sale Now Through October 2

  • The 2025 Chapter BB plant sale will run through October 2, with preorder pickup on Thursday, October 16. 
  • Plant pick up on October 16 will be by last name: A-L from 11 to 11:45 a.m., and M-Z from 11:45 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at St. Peter’s Episcopal Church (3 West Ridge Road).

Cell Tower Coverage Challenges and Solutions on the South End of the Island

  • Residents and visitors on the south end of the island have long reported persistent problems with cell coverage, particularly for AT&T customers.
  • According to recent correspondence, AT&T is aware of these ongoing service issues but, to date, has not taken meaningful steps to add or upgrade equipment in the affected area.
  • While Wi-Fi calling can help fill some gaps, it’s not a holistic solution for those who rely on their mobile network for outdoor use, emergency calls, or travel around the island.

Check Out the Dog Park at a Reduced Rate

  • Did you know that you can check out The Landings Dog Park from September 1 until December 31, 2025 at the reduced rate of $20 per pup?
  • Just purchase a Landings Dog Park tag and you are on your way. All dogs must register yearly and wear the tag when in the Park.
  • Remember, the Dog Park is closed for maintenance and herbicide application on the fourth Wednesday of each month.

TLA Discontinues Dump Ticket Sales Until Further Notice

  • Evergreen Tree Service recently announced it is experiencing difficulties processing materials due to the planned International Paper mill closures in September.
  • Until further notice, TLA has discontinued the sale of dump tickets at both The Landings Association’s Administrative Office (600 Landings Way) and all gates.

TLA Implementing Flock Cameras

  • The Landings Association (TLA) is implementing Flock Safety LPR (Automated License Plate Reader) cameras, a public safety system that uses license plate reading technology to enhance neighborhood security.
  • License plate information is frequently requested by police during investigations of incidents such as home and vehicle break-ins. The cameras are designed to capture objective evidence and send real-time alerts to local authorities.
