Trick-or-Treating in The Landings: October 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

  • Halloween is just around the corner, and again this year, thanks to the lingering of COVID-19 and flu season, trick-or-treating will take a lot more preplanning so that everyone can stay safe.
  • One safety suggestion involves those participating in Halloween to hand out individually wrapped treats outside. As in year’s past, trick-or-treating in The Landings is on October 31, from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.

First Responders Update

  • Do you have one of our yellow medical cards? Do you know what they are or their purpose? If the answer to either of these questions is, “No”, please let me explain.
  • We have provided a bright yellow card to the community for decades.
  • The purpose of this card is to give Skidaway Island First Responders (SIFR) and the paid paramedic your medical history so that we can give you the best care possible.
  • A yellow card, should be filled out for everyone who lives in your home. On the card  you will provide medical history, hospital of choice, emergency contact information, drug allergies if applicable, and all pertinent information.
  • The card(s) should be updated often and kept in a small plastic bag. We ask that you put that bag inside your refrigerator on the right side of the door. This way, we know exactly where to look in your home when we arrive.
  • This card serves a great purpose if you or your loved one are unable to communicate.

Community Marketing & Real Estate Update

  • Change can be complicated, even when it seems small. A name, after all, is more than a few words on a sign, it carries history, identity, and the weight of expectations.
  • Earlier this year, at our community presentation, The Landings Company shared that we would begin doing business as Landings Real Estate.
  • At the time, it seemed like a logical step to include “Real Estate” in our name in a short concise manner.
  • But as time went on, we discovered that it created more confusion than clarity.
  • Was “Landings Real Estate” the same company people had known for decades? Was it connected to The Landings Company, or was it something different?
  • And in many communications, the name Landings Real Estate sounded like it could be a piece of property rather than a brokerage – a subtle but important distinction that could leave potential clients unsure.
  • We recognized quickly that our earlier choice of “Landings Real Estate” wasn’t going to serve us well. I led the effort to refine our name and invited our agents and our Board into the discussion to ensure their voices were part of the decision. It was a straightforward process: We all wanted clarity, and it didn’t take long to reach consensus.
