General Manager’s Update November 2025
- As Thanksgiving approaches, I am reminded of the strength, dedication, and kindness that define our community.
- This season is a perfect time to reflect on our accomplishments and express heartfelt appreciation for everyone who contributes to our shared success.
- We have so much to be thankful for at The Landings Association, and I want to highlight a few areas that deserve our gratitude.
- Staff remain dedicated to advancing the primary objectives outlined in the Association’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan.
- New TLA Website – I am excited to announce that our new website will launch by year-end. This project has benefited greatly from the feedback and contributions of more than 58 Beta Testers, who currently are working their way through the site to ensure features are functioning as they should. Thank you to each volunteer who is helping to shape the site to better serve our members.
- New Weather-Resistant Furnishings – At a recent Senior Staff Drop-in, our members asked, and we listened, regarding providing furnishings at our outdoor amenities that are better able to withstand the elements. If you haven’t done so already, check out the new stools at the Tiki Bar, as well as the Adirondak chairs on the Ship Store’s porch.
Public Works…Working for You!
- Pine straw was applied to Tidewater Square and surrounding trees bordering Lagoon 66 in preparation for Halloween.
- This week, Absolute Concrete replaced 22 damaged concrete panels along the community path that runs from Priest Landing Drive to Marsh Tower Lane.
On the Security Scene
- On Saturday, October 18, Landings Security responded to a residence on Hobcaw Lane for a report of a suspicious incident.
- On Sunday, October 19, Landings Security observed what appeared to be a young teen driving a golf cart full of juvenile passengers.
On the Waterfront
- The Marinas staff completed pressure washing the docks and dock boxes this week. Fence line debris removal and other landscaping activities are underway.
- Coastal Construction is scheduled to arrive on-site next week to begin the restroom remodel project.
CDD Weekly Update
- Routine inspections were conducted in Midpoint and Marshwood this week.
- Follow-up and requested inspections were conducted throughout the island.
- This week, five properties were contacted regarding new violations of the Private Property Maintenance Standards, and one property was contacted to provide courtesy education regarding property maintenance standards.
Fall Book and Art Sale
- The Village Library is hosting its popular outdoor Fall Book and Art Sale on Saturday, October 25 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1 Skidaway Square.
- Don’t miss this opportunity to discover hundreds of books for readers of all ages and genres…all at bargain prices!
Barktoberfest
- Barktoberfest games are here at Skidaway Community Church on October 25 from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
- Admission is $20 for adults, $10 for kids, and $50 for a family pass.
- All friendly dogs are invited to bring their well behaved humans for a day of tail wagging fun and canine camaraderie.
- You need not have a dog to attend.
Catch the King is Almost Here!
- On Thursday, November 6, more than 90 volunteers will be out early, between 8 and 9 a.m., mapping tidal flooding during the highest King Tide of the year.

CCPD To Host Financial Crimes & Fraud Seminar
- The Chatham County Police Department’s Criminal Investigation Division is hosting a Financial Crimes and Fraud Seminar at Bible Baptist Church(4700 Skidaway Road) on Thursday, November 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the main sanctuary.
- This free event is open to everyone and will cover a wide range of topics about scams, fraud, and how to protect yourself.

Security Volunteers Wanted
- Do you have at least two hours a week to spare and are willing to use them to assist The Landings Security Team? You even can choose the day and timeslot that works best for you.
- Previously, Security had a volunteer program that was eliminated during the onset of COVID-19. Recently, the Security Committee recommended that this program be reinstated and TLA’s Board approved.
- Volunteers will be stationed primarily at the Oakridge or Deer Creek Village gates or assigned to other locations as needed, such as the North Gate during peak traffic hours.

TLA Senior Staff Drop-in Session Next Tuesday (October 21)
- Do you have a matter to discuss with TLA’s Senior Staff or an idea to share?
- On Tuesday (October 21), TLA’s Senior Staff will host a drop-in session from 2 to 3 p.m. in The Landings Association’s Conference Room (600 Landings Way).
- You do not need an appointment to attend. Just drop by between 2 and 3 p.m.

- On Monday, October 13, Landings Security responded to Monastery Road for a report of a dog vs. dog attack.
- On Saturday, October 11, a resident on Chatuachee Crossing contacted the Main Gate to report a theft.
- On Monday, October 13, Security responded to a residence on Cotesworth Place for a report of a suspicious incident.
- The Guardian Pro Camera has been deployed at Landings Way South near Huntingwood Retreat.
On the Waterfront
- The wet weather and multiple days of small craft advisories kept boating activities low.
- Myrick Marine is expected to mobilize soon to start repairs on the Seawall panels in the entrance to the basin.
Public Works…Working for You!
- On Thursday October 16, Southeast Pipe completed the CIPP lining of the pipe failure that occurred below the intersection of Pennystone Retreat and Delegal Road.
- This week, staff assessed the Dog Park fence and replaced several sections that have corroded or rotted and securely fastened the wire fence along the perimeter of the Park.
- Brightview has started the process of replacing the irrigation system at the Main Gate this week.
TLA Now Accepting Committee Applications
- If you are looking for a way to contribute to the community and make a positive impact at the same time, consider volunteering to serve on one of The Landings Association’s Committees.
- Applications will be accepted through November 7, 2024.
- TLA committee terms are for one year. If you are an existing committee member and want to be considered for continued membership, you must reapply by the deadline.
- Association committees include Appeals, Architectural Review, Communications, Finance, Governmental Relations, Insurance and Risk Management, Marinas, Public Works, Security, and Strategic Water.
Watercolor Workshop: February 3-6
- Internationally acclaimed watercolorist Paul Jackson will teach a watercolor workshop in Savannah on February 3-6, 2026.
- The course will be held at the Skidaway Community Church.
- The class is entitled Painting Dramatic Light in Watercolor.

- Congratulations to Vicki McElreath, Joe Nicholson, and James (Tad) Street who have been elected the three new Board Directors for The Landings Association.
