All eyes remain on Hurricane Ian as it travels toward Florida as a major hurricane. Chatham Emergency Management Agency (CEMA) reported at today’s 10 a.m. briefing that Ian is now a Category 3 hurricane, with 125 MPH sustained winds and traveling 12 MPH. It is expected the storm will continue to strengthen as it approaches Florida.
CEMA expects heavy rain to begin in our area late Thursday (September 29) into Friday morning (September 30). As mentioned in yesterday’s report, there is the potential for localized flooding, power outages, and isolated tornados.
