Follow the Rules and Have A Happy July 4th!

Jul 29, 2025 | Archived Emails

July 4th is this Friday and many people have plans to spend quality time with family and friends and take part in The Landings Golf & Athletic Club’s Firework’s Celebration at aproximately 9 p.m. The Landings Association partners with The Landings Golf & Athletic Club to pay for a portion of the fireworks for this evening. More fireworks have been purchased for this celebration than in previous years, so expect an elevated fireworks extravaganza.

For many people, the fun will not end on Friday. There will be gatherings of families and friends over the long weekend. Below are a few highlights from our  Rules and Regulations for everyone to keep in mind to help protect our island, residents, and maximize the good times. Be sure to share these bullet points with your guests.

The Rules and Regulations  apply to all property owners, residents, occupants, visitors, guests, and tenants. Property owners and residents are responsible for their own conduct and the conduct of their family members, tenants, and guests.

  • The speed limit in The Landings is 30 MPH unless posted otherwise. Speed limits are enforced by detection devices such as radar and LIDAR. Drivers exceeding the speed are subject to fines and suspension of TLA membership privileges.
  • Operators of motorized vehicles, including scooters, mopeds, and golf carts, must have in their possession a valid operator’s license. Remember, the only motorized vehicles allowed on the community paths and trails are ADA Mobility Vehicles, golf carts, and class 1 and 2 electric bicycles. This is outlined in Section H.7 Community Paths.
  • All other motorized vehicles in use on streets must have a valid Department of Transportation issued license plate, registration, and insurance, as required by state and/or local ordinance.
  • The Landings is a “hands-free” community. Drivers shall not physically hold or support with any part of their body, any wireless communication device while operating a moving vehicle, including golf carts.
  • Golf carts shall not exceed 54” total width from the furthest part to include tires and fenders.
  • Golf carts more than 74” in height are restricted from using tunnels on Common Property.
  • Golf cart capacity limits must be observed. Seating capacity shall not exceed six people, and all passengers must be seated. No person or animal may sit in the driver’s lap while the cart is in motion. Standing or hanging on to the golf cart while in motion is prohibited.
  • Golf carts do not have the right-of-way on community paths, roads, or crosswalks. Golf carts are treated as vehicles and must obey traffic laws, including yielding to pedestrians and cyclists at crosswalks and intersections.

Stay safe and have a fabulous July 4th!
