Record number of Diamondback Terrapin eggs this year (300 females and 6,457 eggs rescued)! Attendees to this event will learn how volunteers rescue Diamondback terrapin eggs from the golf course sand traps, how they are incubated, and then will help release the hatchlings into the marsh. Events will be held at Sunset Park, Landings Way South (between Cotton Crossing and Delegal, opposite Yam Gandy). Multiple release events are scheduled, but only 60 attendees per session. Participants can attend just ONE session due to the popularity of this event, and must pre-register online at skidawayaudubon.org beginning AUG. 1. Participation is limited to Landings residents with gate passes. Children must be six years of age or older to participate. Golf carts recommended, as parking is limited. The events are only held if weather permits. The events are free but donations are welcome. For questions, contact friendsofskidawayaudubon@gmail.com.
