Real Estate with Real Reinvestment: How TLCo Puts Success Back into the Community
At 10 a.m. on Friday, August 1, the Goodwill truck in The Landings Real Estate Company’s back parking lot wasn’t just parked — it was surrounded.
Residents were queued up and ready to donate. What followed was four hours of steady drop-offs. By the time the last car was unloaded, a little after 2 p.m., Goodwill already had sent a second truck to handle the overflow.
It was the launch of our Company’s First Fridays for Goodwill, a new monthly tradition that will continue through the end of 2025. The timing isn’t random. We’re making it easy for Landings residents to pass along gently used items year-round, while still leaving plenty for the beloved Landings Landlovers Flea Market and Auctionmania that takes place each spring. That annual event funds scholarships and grants that touch every corner of our community, and our Goodwill partnership is designed to complement it, not compete.
September will bring an extra layer of community connection. Our second First Friday lines up with The Village Library’s Second Saturday pickup. Donations from both of these events will be weighed together, and Goodwill will present our beloved Library with a check for up to $1,000 to support its programs. It’s a one-time collaboration that turns two days of giving into twice the impact.
More Than Real Estate
At The Landings Real Estate Company, selling homes is only part of our purpose. We believe in Real Estate with Real Reinvestment — putting our success back into the community we serve. Every listing, every closing, every handshake with a new neighbor fuels marketing, programs, partnerships, and sponsorships that make The Landings and Savannah stronger.
Our Goodwill initiative may be the newest expression of that philosophy, but it’s far from the only one.
A Tradition of Giving: The Angel Tree
For more than 25 years, TLCo has hosted The Angel Tree, our Christmas giving initiative for the community. Each year, residents have selected tags from trees at our office, purchased the requested gifts, and returned them unwrapped for delivery to children in need. Over the decades, this effort has supported multiple charities, from local family service organizations to military family programs, ensuring thousands of children have gifts to open and families feel the warmth of their neighbors during the holidays. While The Angel Tree is being re-imagined, its legacy remains a powerful symbol of the community’s generosity.
Sponsorships That Strengthen the Whole
Our commitment extends beyond single events. We’ve built long-term relationships with organizations whose work shapes the character and vitality of both The Landings and Savannah:
- Platinum Sponsor of Landings Landlovers – helping fund community grants, scholarships, and social programs that keep our neighborhood vibrant and connected.
- Supporter of The Landings Ladies 9-Hole Golf Tournament – benefiting Second Harvest of Coastal Georgia’s Kids Cafe, which provides meals and mentoring to children in need.
- Major Sponsor of the Club Car Championship at The Landings Golf & Athletic Club – backing a PGA TOUR-sanctioned event that showcases our community to a national audience and raises funds for local charities.
- Center Court Sponsor of the Savannah Challenger – bringing top-tier tennis to Savannah, inspiring athletes of all ages, and contributing to youth outreach programs.
- Diamond Sponsor of the Kiwanis Club of Skidaway Island – supporting youth initiatives, scholarships, and service projects that make a tangible difference for local families.
- Donor to Union Mission – helping provide food, shelter, and support to those facing hardship in our city. And that’s just some of our company’s impact.
Over and above those initiatives are the countless ways our agents give back on their own, serving as board members, individual sponsors, and hands-on volunteers for organizations throughout The Landings and greater Savannah. From mentoring youth and athletes to working at soup kitchens and leading fundraising committees, our team members live the same spirit of community reinvestment that drives The Landings Real Estate Company as a whole.
A Community Cycle That Works
When you choose to buy or sell with The Landings Real Estate Company, you’re not just completing a transaction – you’re fueling a cycle. Our profits, after expenses, go back into marketing The Landings nationally and supporting initiatives that directly benefit our community and the greater Savannah area.
That’s why programs like First Fridays for Goodwill and traditions like The Angel Tree aren’t just extras. They’re the visible results of a business model designed to reinvest right here, where we live and work.
Why It Matters
The Landings is more than a collection of homes. It’s a living, breathing community built on connection, care, and shared purpose. Events like the Goodwill partnership and The Angel Tree give residents a chance to contribute together. Sponsorships keep beloved traditions alive, from golf and tennis tournaments to local scholarship programs. And every time a neighbor chooses our company, The Landings Real Estate Company, for their real estate needs, that choice multiplies into benefits the entire community can see and feel.
Looking Ahead
With First Fridays continuing through 2025, the September Village Library collaboration on the horizon, and our holiday giving tradition being rethought, there are plenty of opportunities to join in. Bring a bag of gently used items. Drop off a new toy. Cheer on the players at the Club Car Championship or Savannah Challenger. Buy and bid at the Landings Landlovers Flea Market and Auctionmania.
In ways big and small, your participation – and your choice of real estate partner – makes an impact.
We’re proud to call this place home, and prouder still to work alongside the people who make it extraordinary. Together, we’re proving that real estate can be more than property lines and contracts. It can be a force for good.
