Strengthening Our Identity: The Landings Real Estate Company
Change can be complicated, even when it seems small. A name, after all, is more than a few words on a sign, it carries history, identity, and the weight of expectations.
Earlier this year, at our community presentation, The Landings Company shared that we would begin doing business as Landings Real Estate. At the time, it seemed like a logical step to include “Real Estate” in our name in a short concise manner. But as time went on, we discovered that it created more confusion than clarity. Was “Landings Real Estate” the same company people had known for decades? Was it connected to The Landings Company, or was it something different? And in many communications, the name Landings Real Estate sounded like it could be a piece of property rather than a brokerage – a subtle but important distinction that could leave potential clients unsure.
We recognized quickly that our earlier choice of “Landings Real Estate” wasn’t going to serve us well. I led the effort to refine our name and invited our agents and our Board into the discussion to ensure their voices were part of the decision. It was a straightforward process: We all wanted clarity, and it didn’t take long to reach consensus.
What We Heard
As we tested the name, Landings Real Estate, we heard concerns loud and clear.
- Branding worries – Dropping “The” from the community’s name, and “Company” from ours, left some wondering if we were still the same organization that has reinvested our earnings back into marketing The Landings. We have a 50+ year history with “Company,” and for some, we’ll always be known as “The Company”
- Too generic – “Landings Real Estate” sounded like it could be anyone, anywhere.
- Loss of identity – What are we marketing?
We realized we needed a name that was clear, true to our heritage, and unmistakably ours.
Our New (and Familiar) Name
With clear agreement among our agents and our Board, the decision came quickly and unanimously: We are now The Landings Real Estate Company.
It might feel like a small change, and in many ways, it is. We are not reinventing ourselves but refining how we present ourselves. The new name keeps the trust, stability, and recognition of The Landings Company while making it immediately clear what we do: real estate.
This clarity matters. When prospective buyers see our marketing, they understand that The Landings is a premier, private community worth exploring, and that The Landings Real Estate Company is the brokerage that will host their visit and guide their experience. Through our Discovery Visit program, we introduce buyers to the lifestyle that makes this place extraordinary. At the same time, our presence here on the island reassures residents that the brokerage they know and trust is still the same, still local, and still dedicated to this community.
What Stays the Same
While our name has evolved, the fundamentals have not.
- Our agents are the same professionals who know this community inside and out.
- Our office remains right here, serving both residents and prospective buyers.
- Every dollar we generate beyond operating expenses is reinvested in marketing The Landings, giving The Landings the national exposure no other brokerage delivers.
This change is a DBA (Doing Business As) designation, not a corporate change. The Landings Company remains the same trusted brokerage you’ve always known, now operating under the clearer name The Landings Real Estate Company.

Our Twofold Marketing Mission
One of our biggest responsibilities is marketing – and that task has always been twofold.
- First, we market the Landings community itself to a national and local audience. The Discovery Visit program, our advertising reach, and our sustained investment in visibility all ensure that potential buyers around the country know about the extraordinary lifestyle offered here. No other brokerage invests in promoting The Landings nationally.
- Second, we market The Landings Real Estate Company as the preeminent brokerage for buying and selling homes, not only within The Landings but across Savannah. We list and sell more property here than any other company because our knowledge of The Landings, our marketing, and our reputation are unmatched.
This dual focus is what sets us apart: We are both the engine that draws buyers to The Landings and the trusted partner who helps residents navigate their own real estate journey.
Looking Ahead
Names matter, but actions matter more. Our new name reflects our strength, our clarity, and our long-term commitment to The Landings. But what truly defines us will always be the people behind the name – the agents and staff, who work every day to make this community stronger.
