First Responders Update

Oct 1, 2025 | News

Do you have one of our yellow medical cards? Do you know what they are or their purpose? If the answer to either of these questions is, “No”, please let me explain.

We have provided a bright yellow card to the community for decades. The purpose of this card is to give Skidaway Island First Responders (SIFR) and the paid paramedic your medical history so that we can give you the best care possible.

A yellow card, should be filled out for everyone who lives in your home. On the card  you will provide medical history, hospital of choice, emergency contact information, drug allergies if applicable, and all pertinent information.

The card(s) should be updated often and kept in a small plastic bag. We ask that you put that bag inside your refrigerator on the right side of the door. This way, we know exactly where to look in your home when we arrive. This card serves a great purpose if you or your loved one are unable to communicate.

In the past, we’ve asked that you make copies of this card and carry one in the glove compartment of your vehicle, your golf cart, and your purse/ wallet. Accidents and emergencies do not always happen at your home.

You can pick up the yellow cards at the reception area of The Landings Association office (600 Landings Way) or from one of the Skidaway Island First Responders. These cards are invaluable, and you don’t need one until you do. Please don’t wait to get one, and fill it out immediately. If you do have one, please update it to be sure the information is the most current.

Lastly, please make sure you call 911 for all police, fire, and medical emergencies.

Stay safe,
