Sometimes items that are broken or just laying around taking up space can be used for essential tasks. If you have an old Crock-Pot that no longer works, but the insert and the lid still are in one piece, consider using it as an in-kitchen compost bin to accumulate items until they go into the larger, outside bin.
Another great tip is putting your leftover gift baskets to good use to corral items in the bathroom, or to store videos, sunglasses, yarn, etc. If you have tall baskets, consider using them for wastebaskets.
