Post Hurricane Matthew Update (October 14, 1 p.m.)

Oct 14, 2016 | Hurricane Matthew

Spoiled Food Drop-off

To aid residents in the disposal of spoiled food due to the extensive power outage as a result of Hurricane Matthew, The Landings Association has arranged for a dumpster to be placed on the practice soccer field in front of The Landings Dog Park. Signage will be posted so residents are able to easily identify the area. The receptacle will be dumped each day before dark so as not to attract raccoons and other wildlife.  Please do not use this dumpster for any other type of debris.

Yard Debris Drop-off

Many residents are anxious to get rid of the storm debris from their property and do not want to wait on a TLA and our contractors, or Chatham County, for pickup. Residents only may dump yard debris at the Evergreen Tree Service site off of McWhorter Road. Be prepared to show photo identification with proof of residency in The Landings. Please keep in mind you must be able to quickly unload your items as no one will be available to assist you. Residents are cautioned to be extremely careful upon approaching, entering, and exiting the facility as there will be large trucks coming and going.

Extended Contractor Hours

Due to the large amount of debris and damage in The Landings caused by Hurricane Matthew, The Landings Association will extend contractor hours to run through Sunday (October 16) from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. as residents work to restore their property. Additionally, contractor fees are waived through next week (October 21) for storm related cleanup. Residents are reminded that you must preauthorize vendors and guests to your specific address.

Vendor Prequalification
There is no truth to the rumor that Chatham County has a list of prequalified contractors. However, Chatham County does require a valid business license for all contractors working in the County. Chatham County has set up a satellite business office at their Public Works building (7226 Varnadoe Drive) for contractors from out of the area to obtain a business license.  This office is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. You also may call their hotline number to verify if a vendor or a contractor has a valid business license (657-0554).
