In accordance with The Landings Association’s Tree Preservation Policy, anytime a property owner wants to remove a tree that is greater than 20” in circumference, they must first request approval. The easiest way to determine if the tree you are concerned about requires approval is to wrap a string around the trunk of the tree at waist height and then mark where the strings overlap. You then can stretch the string out next to a tape measure and see if it is 20” or more. Below is a diagram of the different ways to measure the tree.
